Confessions of a Night Shift CNA

I’m sure this applies to CNAs on every shift, but we need to sit down and chat a bit about the long hours of the noc shift.

Don’t worry, I’m only on my fifth cup of coffee.

It’s only 3 a.m.? Awesome…

I started a new diet today.

It lasted all of 5 minutes before I hit up those donuts in the break room. Om nom nom.

I got through a summer reading list in one week.

Cleaning was done, so were rounds, so now what?

Explaining to a confused patient that it’s 3 a.m., not 3 p.m. and time for supper.

Yes, this happens, and quite often, too.

Yeah, I just nodded off…

And it will happen again before 0700 hits.

Second wind incoming in 3, 2, 1.

It’s 0700 and I’m ready to take on another 8 hour shift when I should be sleeping.

Any other CNAs with confessions to share? Comment!
